"Aint Nothin For Dreamers But Dreams" ~ Sandra Lue Alvis

"Aint Nothin for Dreamers but Dreams" ~ Sandra Lue Alvis
This is a quote from my grandmother that I will continue to acknowledge for the rest of my life. I believe this quote is talking about all of the people in the world that have dreams but never allow those dreams to become actions. Those "dreamers" will continue to dream rather than take action because they have no idea what a simple dream can become. I on the other hand, would rather be a person that has a dream that can be turned into a reality merely because I know a simple dream can be the one thing that can change the mantality of man and cause an overall new outlook on life itself.

Mingling With Moreland #4

During my visit with my mentor, Mr. Moreland, we pretty much had a recap of our last powwow session. We talked about using more than just the Garden Project as my resource for my paper and my presentation. Mr. Moreland suggested that I research more about people that founded and influenced social work. After that we talked about my field trips with my sponsor, Mrs. Hilinski, and how smoothly they have been running. At the end of our meeting he asked me if there was anything I needed from him and when was the next time we would be visiting the Garden Project. I left our meeting with more information regarding social work and a better idea of how I could use my simple aha moments as a resource for my project.

  4. When I was a freshman in college I majored in Sociology thinking it would be a good stepping stone to be a social worker. I eventually switched to Political Science but still ended up as a social worker for 6 years. It was fulfilling most days. Seeing people take smalls steps towards bettering themselves is amazing. I remember having to research the originators of the field of social work. They had a tough job trying to convince the rest of the population that the so called dregs of society needed saving...We are richer as a society because of their efforts.
